Aakrana: The Forgotten Lands
Aakrana was a wonderful MMO indie game development project that spanned nearly 8 years. At it's inception, the game was nothing more than an idea. Then the idea grew into a concept and design. The design evolved into a very basic 3D world and some 8 years later is an actual living and breathing (at least virtually) world.
The development cycle for Aakrana was really a journey of personal growth and skill development. As any indie game project can attest to, MMO development with a team of unpaid and under-experienced developers can be monumental. Despite a developers best of intentions, it takes more than excitement and a keen eagerness to build gaming projects. The skills that were learned over the years of taking Aakrana from concept to reality were truely amazing.
